Sony’s recent State of Play presentation offered a glimpse at upcoming titles, with mixed reactions. While the focus was on the online shooter Concord, a surprising highlight emerged: Astro Bot.
Concord, a live-service game similar to the successful Helldivers 2, received a detailed look with cinematics and gameplay. However, some questioned if it could replicate Helldivers 2’s appeal.
State of Play also featured Marvel Rivals, another online team-based game potentially competing with Concord.
For PC gamers, Sony announced a September release for the acclaimed God of War Ragnarök port. While boasting PC-exclusive features, it requires a PlayStation Network account, causing some discontent after a similar issue with Helldivers 2.
Now, here’s where Astro Bot steals the show.
Usually relegated to tech demos, Astro Bot, the adorable robot mascot, is getting his own full game! The vibrant platformer showcased in the trailer takes Astro through diverse environments while battling quirky enemies. Similar to Astro’s Playroom, the PS5 pack-in title, it includes references to PlayStation classics like Uncharted’s Nathan Drake and Parappa the Rapper.
Judging by the enthusiastic response, Astro Bot’s new adventure seems destined to become a must-have for many PS5 owners.
